Indexation as of 1 January 2023

22 December 2022

Good news! As of 1 January 2023, we will increase the pensions of pensioners and former members with the maximum indexation that is possible under our policy. In addition, a catch-up indexation will take place over 2021.

Indexation pension of pensioners and former members

As of 1 January 2023, we will increase the pensions of pensioners and former members with an indexation of 3.27%.

How much increase is possible?

Full indexation according to our policy means that the pensions increase by 75% of the price increase, up to a maximum of 3%. Previously, the policy of Mars Pension Fund was that the annual indexation of the pensions could not exceed the wage index either. This policy has changed, so the wage index no longer counts as a maximum.

Calculation

In 2022, the wage index was 1.75%. As of 1 January 2022, the pensions have therefore been increased by 1.75% instead of 2.02%. Based on the change in policy, we correct the indexation of 2022 with 0.27%. In total, we will therefore increase the pensions by 3 + 0.27 = 3.27% as of 1 January 2023.

Catch-up indexation 2021

As of 1 January 2023, we will also be able to catch up the missed increase of 2021 for pensioners and former members. In 2021, the financial situation of the pension fund was less good, which meant that we were unable to give a full indexation. Because things are going well from a financial point of view, we will make up for the missed increase of 1 January 2021 by 0.49%.

You are not automatically entitled to this increase. You are only entitled to the catch-up indexation if, as of 1 January 2021, you:
- are out of service or
- are retired or
- are incapacitated for work or
- are an ex-partner.
And you still have to be on 1 January 2023.
