Pension 123 Layer 2

In three ways

Three pillars of pension accrual

You accrue pension in three ways:

A. AOW: this is the pension you receive from the government. Further information on the AOW is available at www.svb.nl.

B. Pension with the Mars Pension Fund. You accrue this pension through Mars, your employer. This is the pension described in this Pension 1-2-3.

C. Pension that you arrange personally, such as an annuity or bank savings.

A. AOW

AOW pension is the pension you receive from the government. Everyone who lives or works in the Netherlands is automatically insured for this pension. You will accrue a full AOW benefit if you have been insured in the Netherlands for AOW in the 50 years preceding the date when your AOW benefit comes into payment. Your AOW is reduced by 2% for each year missed.

Please note: If you have not always lived or worked in the Netherlands, your AOW pension may be lower.

The AOW age is not the same for everyone. The amounts of AOW pension are also adjusted annually. Information on the AOW is available at op www.svb.nl.

B. Pension accrued through Mars

The amount of your pension is shown in your Uniform Pension Overview (UPO). Your UPO is sent to you once a year and is also filed in your personal pension documents in MyMarsPension.

The total amount of pension you have accrued, including at any previous pension funds or insurers, is available at www.mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl

C. Pension that you arrange personally

You can save yourself for an additional pension. There are various ways to do this. This can be with bank savings or by arranging an insurance, such as an annuity. If you are considering this, we recommend that you ask for assistance from a financial adviser.
