As of January 1, 2020, we will increase the pensions that have commenced for active participants by the full supplement: 1.98%.

Mars Pensioenfonds takes the supplement decision every year in November. This is done on the basis of the price index and the policy funding ratio of September of that year. In September, the policy funding ratio was 125.5% above the required equity capital (approximately 123%). This is an important condition for granting a full supplement. A full surcharge means 75% of the price inflation. Prices have increased by 2.65% in the past period

Many pension funds are having a hard time

We repeat it again: that we can increase pensions is great news. And quite special in the Netherlands. The majority of pension funds are having a hard time. There was even a high probability that many pension funds would have to cut pensions. Fortunately, that chance has now diminished. Minister Koolmees has lowered the limit at which pension funds must reduce pensions. This is a temporary measure. However, this measure means that many pension funds will not have to lower their pensions in the coming year, at least. Or do they need to lower them less.

This does not really apply to Mars Pensioenfonds. Yes, we too are suffering from a declining funding ratio. This is partly due to the ever-decreasing interest rate. Despite this situation, we managed to maintain the funding ratio. And therefore give you a supplement on your pension.
