If you become disabled

If you become disabled and you are receiving WIA benefit, and you are still accruing capital in the Mars Pension Fund in your ARP and ASP accounts, you will be entitled to full or partial paid-up continuation. You will then pay no or part of your contribution, but you will continue to accrue capital. How much contribution you continue to pay depends on the degree of your disability. The Mars Pension Fund will pay the contribution to the extent of your disability.

Contribution-free continuation applies to the ARP and the ASP contributions. Please note: You can no longer change or cancel the voluntary contribution in the event of disability. The contribution-free continuation takes place on the basis of your contribution choice before your first day of illness.

More information on disability is available at www.uwv.nl.

You may also be entitled to a disability pension from the Mars pension fund, in addition to your WIA benefit. Disability pension is paid until the date when you can return to work, you retire or you reach your AOW age.

Disability pension is capped at 75% of your pensionable salary above the WIA benefit limit (€ 71,628.84 in 2024).

If you are disabled and you leave your job, the Mars Pension Fund will continue to pay the contribution. You will also retain any disability pension due for as long as you are still disabled.

If you leave employment and subsequently become disabled

you will not be eligible for paid-up continuation by the Mars pension fund and disability pension from the Mars pension fund.
