New pension plan expected to be introduced on January 1, 2028

The start of Mars Pension Fund’s new pension plan as per January 1, 2027 was not feasible. Mars Pension Fund is now expected to introduce the new pension plan on January 1, 2028.

In 2024, the House of Representatives approved the new pension choice known as ‘lump sum’. The Senate recently indicated that it would only consider this proposal once the new minister had announced a clear start date.

Change of Payment Date

Every month, you receive your pension from Mars Pension Fund on or around the 1st day of the month. Starting in July 2026, we will change the payment date for your pension to the 20th of each month. This change does not mean that you will miss a payment, but that you will receive it later in the same month.

More time is needed for the decision on indexation

The board of Mars Pension Fund decides at the end of each year whether we can increase the pensions of pensioners and deferred members, and if so by how much. This is called indexation. This year more time is needed to make this decision.

Your pension plan will change due to new government rules. Based on the new rules, the social partners (Mars and the Works Councils) make agreements about the new pension plan. Associations of pensioners and associations of deferred members have a legal right to be heard (hoorrecht) so that they can make their voices heard
