Will I have enough income later?

14 September 2017

The new UPO states how much pension you have accrued at the moment. Of course you also want to know how much pension you can expect later. And whether that is enough. You can find these answers in the Pension Dashboard.

Step 1: Understanding my income

Go to the Pension Dashboard in your personal environment on our website. With the Pension Dashboard you can list all your income from your retirement date:

  • Your pension at MPF;
  • your state pension;
  • Pension that you have accrued with other employers than Mars;
  • The income of your partner, if any.

What is provided for your partner and children?

Your pension is your income for later. But a pension is more than that: if you pass away, MPF will make sure that your partner receives a partner's pension. And your children receive an orphan's pension. The UPO states how much they will receive. You can also find the partner's pension in the Pension Dashboard.

Step 2: Understanding my expenses

In the Pension Dashboard you can make a sum of what you spend, for example, rent, mortgage, insurance, daily shopping and vacations. And then you can see whether your income after your retirement date will be enough for what you spend.

Step 3: Compiling my own pension

At MPF, you can partly put together your own pension. For example, you can retire early or partially to make time for hobbies or a nice trip. With the Pension Dashboard you can already calculate what this will mean for your pension. For example, you can choose to:

  • retire partially;
  • retire early;
  • convert the partner's pension into an old-age pension.

Every choice has consequences for the level of your pension. Sometimes the pension will be higher and sometimes lower.

You do not have to make any pension choices yet. You will not do so until you retire. However, you can use the Pension Dashboard to find out what your choices will mean for your pension.

Step 4: Should I take action?

In the Pension Dashboard you can see whether your pension income, expenses and pension choices match. Do you have too little income after your retirement date? Then you can:

  1. Look at your expenses. Maybe you can cut back on something later or make sure your mortgage is paid off when you retire.
  2. Make other pension choices, such as working longer.
  3. Perhaps arrange for an extra pension now. For example, with an annuity insurance or bank savings.

Pension dashboard updated more frequently

The Pension Dashboard was always updated once a year with your latest data. As of this year, this will happen more frequently. Once before May 1 and just before you receive the UPO. As of 2018, your data will even be updated 3 or 4 times.

When the Pension Dashboard is updated, your data will also be sent to Mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl. There you will find your pension at MPF, the AOW and the pension you may have accrued with other employers.
