What if...

7 October 2016

... you want to retire earlier? The standard retirement age is 67, but you can start your pension earlier. There are, however, a number of things you need to take into account.

A lower pension

At MPF, the standard retirement age is 67, but you have the option to start your pension at 50. If you retire earlier, you will receive a lower pension each year. Also bear in mind that you will not yet receive an Old Age Pension Act until your personal Old Age Pension age.

New rules from the Tax Authorities

The Tax Authories have adjusted the rules for participants who retire earlier than five years before their state pension age. If you want to retire (partially) five years (or more) before your personal Old Age Pension age, this is only possible if you stop working for that part.

Do you want to retire early?

If so, you must send in a request to us at least six months in advance. Use the Early Retirement Request form for this purpose. Once your pension has started, it cannot be reversed. Would you like to retire at another date than your 67th birthday? Please discuss this with your line manager and the Mars HR department.
