App ‘Life certificate’ for pensioners abroad

29 August 2023

Do you live abroad and do you receive a request from us to provide a 'life certificate'? We have good news: starting this year, you can use an app.

‘Life certificate’ via an app

To continue paying out your pension, we ask you to provide a 'Life certificate' every year. You will receive a form from us that you complete and have it signed or stamped by an authorized body. From now on, this can be done a lot faster and easier via an app.

What do you need?

To send your ‘Life certificate’ you need the following:

  • a smartphone (this does not have to be your own)
  • your identity document (passport or identity card) with a chip
  • the personal QR-code in the letter you receive from us
  • the ReadID Ready app

How does it work?

If you live abroad, you will receive a letter from us no later than September. With the app you scan the QR code in the letter. Then you scan your ID and take a picture of your face, a kind of selfie. You will receive a confirmation from us within two weeks after you have submitted your 'Life certificate' digitally.

Then you can also complete the 'life certificate' on paper. To do this, complete the 'life certificate' form. This consists of two parts. Fill out the first part yourself. The second part should be completed by a competent authority. The declaration states which authorities these are. An authorized body may also issue its own declaration if it contains the information listed on our declaration.

You can upload the form in MyMarsPension. Make sure the document is a jpg, jpeg, pdf or png format and no larger than 8 MB. You can also return the form to the postal address stated on the form.

Sometimes we need the original supporting document from you, for example:

  • If the competent authority used a dry stamp when signing (that is an embossed print with a seal or stamp where no ink was used)
  • If we specifically ask for this
