Pension 123 Layer 2

If you become unemployed (ARP/ASP)

If you become unemployed, you do not have to notify us of this. You should carefully consider the consequences of being unemployed for the pension for you, your partner and children.

Capital accrual will cease

If you leave employment at Mars, you will cease to accrue capital in your ARP/ASP plan. The capital you have accrued will remain for you as before. This capital will remain at the Mars Pension Fund until you take it with you to a new employer, or until you retire. Until this time, you bear the investment risk.

Consequences for partner's and orphan's pension

In your pension plan, the partner's pension and orphan's pension are insured on a risk basis. This means that if you leave employment at Mars and die before your retirement date, your surviving dependants will receive a partner's and orphan's pension that is lower than if you had continued to work at Mars. Your surviving dependants will in fact receive a benefit from the capital you have accrued while you were employed at Mars.

Exception

There is one exception to this rule, that applies if you die after you have left employment at Mars and you were also receiving WW (unemployment) benefit from the government at that time. In this case, your partner and children will receive a partner's and orphan's pension as if you were still working at Mars.
