Good news! As of January 1, 2021, we are increasing the pensions for retired members and former members by 0.34%.
Mars Pensioenfonds takes the supplement decision every year in November. This is done on the basis of the price index figure and the policy coverage ratio of September of that year. In September, the policy coverage ratio of 114.8% was between the required equity (approximately 123%) and the indexation limit. As a result, a partial indexation can be granted. For the sake of completeness: a full indexation means 75% of the price inflation. Prices rose by 1.11% in the recent period.
Many pension funds are struggling
In the Netherlands, many pension funds are still struggling. There is still a high chance that pension funds will have to reduce their pensions. Of course Mars Pensioenfonds is also feeling the financial consequences of the coronavirus and the ever-decreasing interest, but we are certainly not in trouble. In fact, despite the current situation, we have managed to keep the coverage ratio at a reasonable level. This means we can give you a partial supplement to your pension! As always, we keep track of what we have been able to give less than we wanted. If the financial situation improves sufficiently, it may still be possible to make up for it.
