Data breach Blue Sky Group

10 August 2021

A data breach recently occurred at Blue Sky Group. Starting next year, Blue Sky Group will take care of the administration for Mars Pensioenfonds. Because the transition from TKP to Blue Sky Group is still in transition, no personal data of Mars Pension Fund participants has been leaked.

The data leak was caused by a so-called phishing e-mail. This is an e-mail in which a hacker pretends to be someone else, for example another company. The email contains a link. If this link is clicked on, a hacker can gain access to all kinds of data.

As mentioned, no data of Mars Pension Fund members had yet been stored at the location in question, so no data of MPF was leaked. Of course, Blue Sky Group immediately plugged the leak and took the necessary steps to repair the damage and prevent it for the future.

Phishing emails remain very dangerous and can have major consequences. So always check if you know the sender before clicking on a link or a button. Or if a strange email address has been used, or if there are, for example, strange language errors in the email.
