Rejoining Mars? This is what you can do with your pension!

13 October 2025

Are you rejoining Mars? It might be wise to consider what you will do with your pension.

Some people rejoin Mars after having worked elsewhere for a while. Have you also returned to Mars? Then you will start accruing a pension again in the ARP/ASP-plan with Mars Pension Fund. In some cases it may be useful to combine your ‘old’ and current pensions. We call this a value transfer.

Tips

  • The advantage of combining your pensions is that you gain a better overview of your pension.
  • However, a disadvantage may be that combining pensions turns out to be unfavorable. If you participated in the Final Pay Plan (which is probably the case if your previous employment started before 1 January 2004), it is probably better to leave your pension in that scheme.
Did you participate in the ARP/ASP Plan? Then it may be wise to combine your pension with your current pension.
  • Not sure in which plan you participated before? Log in ons MyMarsPension or check your Uniform Pension Overview (UPO) to find the answer.
  • If you consider to combine your pensions, please request a quote from Pensioenservice. They can also help you with making your choice.

How does a value transfer work?

Per step:

  1. You request a value transfer yourself. You do this using the value transfer form.
  2. We gather all information about your earlier accrued pension.
  3. Based on that information, we calculate how much pension capital can be transferred to your new pension. You will see this in the quote.
  4. Now it is up to you to weigh up whether a value transfer makes sense.
  5. Do you agree with the offer? Then we combine the earlier accrued capital with your current pension capital.
