Transition Plan on new pension plan completed

18 February 2025

Mars and the Works Council have made agreements with each other about a new pension plan. These are laid out in a Transition Plan.

What is a Transition Plan?

The objective is to transition to a new pension plan on January 1, 2027. The Transition Plan sets out, for example, what the new pension plan will look like, how high the contributions will be, and how the retirement pension, the partner’s pension and the orphan's pension will be arranged. This is the result of agreements made between Mars and the Works Council.

The ball is in the pension fund's court

The pension fund is being asked to put these agreements into practice. Therefore, we are assessing the Transition Plan; we will verify if the agreements are understandable, balanced and feasible.

Only then can we accept the order from Mars and the Works Council to implement the new pension plan. Of course, we will let you know when that time comes.

Next step

The next step is to create an Implementation plan, that we will submit to De Nederlandsche Bank (the Dutch Central Bank, DNB). DNB will check if the plan meets the legal requirements, so that we can ultimately carry out the transition carefully and responsibly. More information will follow by then.
